Facebook Dropping Notifications

I made a post asking for volunteers last night, and some people commented on it, offering to volunteer. Facebook didn't send me a notification, though, and I only happened to see them when looking at my newsfeed later. This is bad; I assume facebook will keep track of things for me so I don't need to go back and check on them.
